Central Oklahoma Property Rights Association is a non profit organization dedicated to protecting health, safety and property values of homeowners. Apex, a Virginia based wind energy company, is planning to cover the entire eastern side of Canadian county and most of Kingfisher county with 492 foot tall Industrial Wind Turbines. At least three separate wind farms are planned for the area with approximately 120 turbines EACH. These turbines will be seen from more than 20 miles away. The red blinking lights from the Calumet wind farm can be seen from the Kilpatrick turnpike! The majority of the power generated from these will NOT be used to power local homes and businesses. Turbines will stop any growth for surrounding communities, property values will plummet, health and safety issues will arise. There is already an operational wind farm in Calumet. Homeowners from there have already come forward voicing their problems and issues with the new wind farm that has only been operational since December 2012. People from all over the nation and even world are regreting signing their lease. Click here to read a powerful letter by a farmer who regrets signing.
We have also heard a rumor of another wind farm (not shown in map) projected northeast of Piedmont, near the Cashion and Deer Creek area.
Currently the ONLY regulation in the state of Oklahoma is the decommissioning of the turbines. We must contact our state officials to preserve our property and protect our home values and the future growth of Oklahoma. Right now, wind companies have all control and will put as many turbines as they can all across our counties. They need to be regulated! Oil and gas is regulated – why aren’t these too?!
